Hydrogenolysis of acetals and ketals by alkoxyalanes and alkoxychloroalanes.

Hydrogenolysis of acetals, ketals, and 1,3-dioxolanes was examd. using alkoxy substituted alanes. Alkoxychloroalanes are moderately reactive and show potential as stereoselective reducing reagents. Alkoxyalanes were less reactive and dialkoxyalanes too unreactive for hydrogenolyses.
